Ted-Toy Collector, Ted Toys Made In New Bedford Mass.

Here is another fine example of what some of the Ted Toys looked like. This almost perfect example made by the Ted Toylers in New Bedford Mass. Many thousands of these toys were made every week and shipped all over the country. I actually live in the city of New Bedford where the Ted Toy company was located, long since gone and I must also add that not a lot of information as of yet is available outside of the Stand Times newspaper archives.

Something personal for me, I would say, to actually bring the local history back to its origins and really understand how and why these incredible pieces of art, were made and played with not only in New Bedford but all over as well. The Ted-Toylers, in my opinion made a very high quality toy in the beginning but towards the end not so much.

So I continue my hunt to bring a small piece of long forgotten history back to a city with a lot of history. Once the whaling capital of the world, New Bedford is but a glimmer of what it once was, We still have a very strong fishing fleet, and often is the worlds top money port in that industry, yet the long forgotten Ted Toy company is but a very vague memory to all but a few who wish to have it live on.

Ted Toy, Made in New Bedford Ma, By the Ted-Toylers

With many bodies shaped like peanuts, Ted Toys made right here in New Bedford Massachusetts have long eluded me, Even with the company the Ted Toylers making thousands a week, hard to find in the south coast region would be an understatement, nobody remembers them or where they were made.

Some of the Ted Toys made by the company were very detailed and with lots of moving parts. How that was done was ingenious to the craftsman employed by the Ted-Toyler company. This was back in the 1920′s 1925 to 1930 to be exact ever before Fisher-Price came on the scene.

My ever-growing collection of these toys are for sentimental value, being brought up and raised in the area and becoming intrigued with this long since gone toy company. Do you have any of these toys sitting around? The Ted Toy company made a wide variety of the from games, to wooden soldiers on metal bases, to the giants that were 18 inches tall, to beads in a jar Many of thses fine toys can be seen at http://www.antiquetoycollections.info and you can even see a couple from my collection on there. Have any info on these Ted Toys? drop me a e-mail at tedtoycollector@aol.com

Enjoy your day
